Developing a sense of responsibility in individuals is one of the most important goals of educational systems. It seems there are major problems in achieving this goal in Iranian educational system. The problems are emphasizing the cognitive dimension in students, reducing responsibility to accountability, the presence of controller, and marketing knowledge. Responsibility is one of the most commonly used concepts in philosophy, as well as in the philosophy of education, which is closely related to the educational system. Since Levinas has focused on heteronomy and responsibility towards the other, it seems his view can be a good starting point for introducing the category of responsibility into education. Levinas claims that responsibility arises against Other who is faced and it leads to a sense of sacrifice, without waiting for any reward since Other is preferable to me. Levinas knows teaching as a relationship with Other that reflects the face of Other. In other words, Self exposes himself to Other in learning and Other is beyond Self. It should be noted that according to Levinas, teaching and learning are not prescriptive, but it is an ethical relationship between Self and Other who have face to face relationship. Students who are trained on this system are no longer indifferent to others and critically make wise decisions as well as make right solutions for their own life and others.
