The present research,investigates the epistemological foundations of distance education on three axes,known as first generation,second generation and the third generation.The way of doing research has been document analysis.Collecting the data to address the research question,almost all available and related to the subject documantaries were reviewed with the use of data collectoin and then qualitatively analyzed.
The main findings of the study include :1.Approaches and epistemologycal foundations of the first generation(1900-1950) including:Positivism approach ,with the belief to general rules of learling,collective methods and emphasising the productivity principles in designing educational strategies.2.Second generation(1960-1980) : explantional and expositional and epistemological beliefs including:making the useage language clear in educational situations,with removing the ambiguity of professional expressions and paying attention to important elements (historical,environmental and individual) at coding and decoding.3. Third generation(from1990 to now):Critical epistemological approach and the belief of creating,“Democratic spaces”,at the school,emphasising and encouragement of cultural variant and impartiality of educational institutions.
